Building bridges to impact from risk analysis research

This research aims to bridge the gap between scientific knowledge and practical application in both biosecurity preparedness and response.

The research approach will emphasize interdisciplinary collaboration to gain an overview of potential models or tools already developed in B3 that are ready for implementation but not currently user-friendly or easy to access. Key contributors include biosecurity risk assessment researchers, computer scientists, government officials responsible for policy and response decision-making, mana whenua and stakeholders representing industries, agriculture, public health, and environmental conservation.

This approach leverages the collaborative, interdisciplinary network fostered by B3 with a view to extend the value of research from science to impact. In doing so it will help integrate research from teams addressing deliberate introductions (B3 Theme A) and unintentional introductions (Theme B).
