eRNA as a molecular diagnostic tool targeting viable Phytophthora spp. and other oomycetes for biomonitoring in plant production nurseries
Home > Projects > eRNA as a molecular diagnostic tool targeting viable Phytophthora spp. and other oomycetes for biomonitoring in plant production nurseries
Biosecurity outcome
Proof of concept for use of eDNA as a diagnostic tool to identify as well as determine the viability of oomycetes in environmental samples. This information would be highly beneficial to Post Entry Quarantine or high risk surveillance decision making.
Science outcome
New knowledge as to the most appropriate gene targets for Phytophthora species, and how reliable RNA extracted from soil may be as a marker of viability.
